Great basement apartment in south Calgary.
Pros: Easy access, very clean, comfortable and nice. Tastefully decorated. We had everything we could possibly need. Managers were quick to respond to questions, and very helpful. It was a great place to stay!!!
Cons: We were there during the spring, which is a tricky time to keep the temperature regulated. At night it still gets pretty cold and during the day it gets warm, especially on the main floor and second floor of a house. At night the top floor can still be very warm, while the basement is always cool. The problem we had is that at night the A/C was still on for the entire house, and the basement was absolutely freezing. I also have a 3 story home which also includes a basement. So I understand the issue. I also prefer cool temperatures at night. But this basement apartment in Calgary was so so freezing, that I really struggled to sleep or be comfortable. After the first night, I contacted management, and within the hour the owners had turned on the heat. However, at that point it was 9:00 and we were leaving for the day. They also responded by email telling me that there was a space heater in a closet that we could use. I found it. However, for the next few nights, the A/C remained on all evening which made conditions extremely uncomfortable in the basement. We did use the tiny heater, which was a very small heater, but it did help a little. It would have been nice to have one for the living room and bathroom. My only suggestion, is that if the owners are going to run the A/C all evening, during the spring or fall, they need to provide visitors a better way to keep warm in the basement. Maybe a way to close the vents so the cold air isn’t pouring in. Or have more and better space heaters for each room, including the bathroom. Other than the issues with the temperature, we loved the apartment and our stay!
