Glacier View Lodge

Great location, feels like a treat and perfect for stopping partway up the Icefields Parkway

Pros: The location is brilliant in terms of the glacier experience and skywalk as you travel up the Icefields Parkway and an experience to stay so close to the Glacier. The room and view were lovely and the welcome drinks and cheese/charcuterie boards were a lovely touch.

Cons: The restaurants in the evening felt like eating something nice but in a motorway services style canteen - didn't create the right look and feel at all. As it was close to the end of season there was also a lot not available on the menu both food and drink wise.

One Night Stop over.... Recommended

Pros: Private secure parking. Easy access to top floor hotel area... Clean and airy rooms.. Staff fab... and LIZ is nuts..(in A Good.way) Ohh and of course excellent access to glacier and skywalk... The best But to crown it all the 5pm complimentary canapes and drinks on the top floor lounge are exceptional... Well done.

Cons: Altitude restaurant is more a canteen than a meal destination. Cold in there too. But food ok.. If a little rushed..

Staff was excellent and friendly. The available tours were a great experience.

Pros: Location was excellent, I picked a room with a view of the mountain which was great. Room was clean and comfortable.

Cons: It would have been nice if the room had a desk.

Lovely view

Pros: Wonderful location with spectacular views of glacier. Complementary cocktail hour when we arrived!

Cons: Restaurant was average for dinner, we did Starbucks for breakfast

Breathtaking views!

Pros: The room was awesome! We could watch the glacier change over the evening from our beds! Beds were very comfortable & couldn’t get a better location.

Cons: The restaurant had a very limited menu & the breakfast times were also limited, the parking was very confusing between the hotel & the discovery centre.

A beautiful location spoilt by some inappropriate staff behaviour.

Pros: Location and most staff. One supervisor did not deal with our issue appropriately- no apology and simply ‘gaslighting’ us.

Cons: We had an enjoyable stay here until we were by a young guy supervising bus arrivals. We happened to walk the wrong way but were already at the door to the hotel and perfectly safe. There were no signs saying no pedestrians. He abused us at the top of his voice in front of queues of people and then tried to justify his abuse to those standing around. We were totally shocked and very upset , We’d just had a great morning on the glacier and we are now totally upset. We could not believe that our peace could have been so badly disrupted. Could he not have not come over to us calmly and explained the situation. The thing is we were safe and we would never be back. So why did he bother? As guests of the hotel, we felt very badly treated. The employee in question initially did not show us due respect and towards the end of his tirade towards us and others waiting for a bus, I let him know that we were unhappy with his behaviour.

Spectacular views of the glacier at this special place. Staying at the lodge was a great experience

Pros: What a great experience and the view of the glacier from the lodge was spectacular. The dining at Altitude was delicious and our server Michelle was outstanding. Great atmosphere at this special accommodation.

Cons: Nothing.

Amazing view

Pros: Beautiful setting, bed was comfortable, room was clean. Complimentary Happy Hour was nice but the gin was barely noticeable in the drinks.

Cons: Aircon temp is set by the management. if you're too hot or too cold you can't adjust the room temperature. A $200 bond seems excessive for a one night stay. No cheaper options for food other than expensive restaurants. A small grocery section in the shop would be a good idea.

Best wat to enjoy the glacier

Pros: The gorgeous views with the excellent staff made it the most enjoyable stay of our road trip. The skywalk and glacier trips without other groups makes it even more worthwhile to stay the night at the lodge

Location fabulous

Pros: Location superb. Restaurants on site. Room clean and beds comfortable Great views and facilities.

Cons: Temperature in room cold as thermostat restricted.
