Thank you James, and thank you #4914!!

Pros: Great location in the heart of downtown Yellowknife - easy walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, in fact to everything you'll need! The owner James was incredibly helpful with a couple of minor issues, which he sorted out very swiftly and effectively - thank you so much, James, for making our stay so awesome! The communal kitchen and living areas are spacious and well appointed. Numbered trays in the fridge per room was a great idea. Laundry facilities are available downstairs, detergent is kindly provided. Plenty of closet and drawer space (in Room #2). The beds and bedding were very comfortable and clean. Pillows were great.

Cons: Information that might be helpful in preparing for your stay here: The bathroom is small and shared, the shower cubicle is very small indeed - but the water flow and temperature are very good. Only Room #4 has an 'en suite' bathroom. Room #1 is badly affected by noise from the obligatory ventilation fan in the adjacent bathroom. The central heating is set to 22c in daytime to better suit the majority guest demographic - we opened the window to reduce the stifling heat. James is looking at a better, flexible heating solution for the bedrooms. The digital doorlock was finicky, but we got used to it. The access number James provides is for this lock - it is behind the screen door, on the front door itself, and NOT for the drop-box adjacent. The front-door gives immediately onto a hallway, and not a mud-room area, so disrobing from several layers of winter gear and boots is tricky without stepping off the provided mat onto the parquet flooring beyond. The concertina doors of the boot/coat storage closet further reduce this 'space'. Other guests coming and going at odd hours (winter night tours generally end around 2am), and the hubbub of a waking and active city, and the carillon of the church bells opposite at 8.30am might be troublesome for light sleepers. Similarly the window blinds do not provide blackout conditions in the bedrooms, so the constant street lighting might also be a challenge for some. The ducted air outlets are positioned directly below the blinds, so expect some 'flapping in the breeze'. Please note - none of the above adversely affected our stay here - it is an awesome little house and we had a totally wonderful time in Yellowknife!!!!
