St. George Hotel

We loved it!

Pros: We loved everything – our host Ria, the hotel, and Barkerville itself. The hotel is incredibly beautiful and decorated in a charming period style. The room was an absolute highlight. Even though the house is quite old and you can hear some sounds, it was always peaceful, and everyone was considerate of each other. The charm of the historic building combined with the warmth of our host made the trip truly worthwhile. We are absolutely thrilled!

Quiet, comfortable, clean and welcoming.

Pros: Best croissants on this planet, very charming hostess, super clean, great bed, quiet all night.

Cons: Everything was terrific.

2 nights in Barkerville

Pros: The opportunity to stay in a historic building within a famous gold-rush town was not to be missed. It did not disappoint. The staff were kind and helpful. The hotel is sympathetic to the period and comfortably furnished. Our room was perfect, clean with a comfortable bed. There was tea and coffee with biscuits available in the lounge throughout the day. Breakfast was great, there was plenty to eat. We had our evening meal in the House Hotel Saloon just across the way.

Cons: Nothing to dislike.

Staying here added to the ambience of visiting an old gold mining town!

Pros: Great location, quaint b and b. Period correct with staff in costumes. Lovely people. Breakfast was exceptional for a continental breakfast. Tea coffee and cookies available all day. We expected tiny rooms but it was nice to have the parlor to visit with other traveller's. Very clean and comfortable.

Pros: We really liked everything about St George. Our hostess was wonderful ensuring everyone's needs were met

Our Barkerville experience was enhanced by our stay and hospitality received at the St George.

Pros: Our host / owner Rea was very accommodating throughout our stay. She made our Barkerville experience very enjoyable, from her initial warm greeting - later than we had originally planned - to providing us with a great breakfast., and providing an additional activity that was very much appreciated.

Cons: Nothing to suggest... it was all good.

Time Capsule

Pros: The location and host were excellent. The authenticity of the period of which it is modeled was wonderful to experience. It was clean and breakfast was rich with a variety of breakfast choices. If you want to escape and slip into the wonder of this fantastic and historical time in canada. This is the place for you. You will be right in the middle of everything that is Barkerville. Your hosts are sure to help you feel comfortable and answer your needs.

Cons: I have nothing to mention. It really was an excellent stay.

Our stay at the St George Hotel in the heart of Barkerville was a magical journey through time!

Pros: Loved the decor! Really put us back into the 1800s. Our host was warm and friendly and had great suggestions for things to do at the park. Our room was immaculate and comfy. Also the continental breakfast was amazing! So much to choose from!

Cons: I can't think of anything I would change or didn't like.

Toller Ort um Geschichte zu erleben

Pros: Wir haben hier auf unserer BC Rundreise zwei Tage übernachtet und werden diesen Aufenthalt nicht mehr vergessen. Ria, unsere Gastgeberin hat uns mit ihrer warmherzigen Art und tollem Frühstück jeden Morgen verwöhnt. Danke .

Wonderful stay and Ria, was exceptional.

Pros: Ria, the hotel manager was exceptional - definitely the best part and there were many great parts to this stay. Location was perfect, room was quaint and perfect - a bit small - but that is the era. The bathrooms were shared but otherwise fantastic. The breakfast was outstanding and my kids and I raved about the fresh croissants. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Cons: Nothing really.
