A lovely 1911 Inn, kept in character, where the staff care about their cliental
Pros: A thoroughly enjoyable stay, made so by the friendly staff, by the excellent well appointed room and by the presence of an onsite restaurant. Also a pub for those who prefer that. The location was excellent for walking to interesting sites and for enjoying a neighbourhood of Victorian and Edwardian houses.
Cons: I would have welcomed an elevator to my third floor room, but had my luggage carried up and managed the stairs OK.

Exceptional
Pros: This hotel is a bright, happy, clean, cute, heritage hotel. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff made the stay exceptional. The customer service and warmth they showed us was amazing. We will stay here again and recommend the location to others.
Cons: Nothing could be improved.

Great place to stay, off the beaten track, and great value for money. We'll be back, soon.
Pros: The JBI is a lovely, small, inn in the heart of James Bay. It is a place where locals come for a quiet get-away, for a nice meal, or to relax in the pub - sometimes all three. This is not your everyday 3-, 4-, or 5-star hotel, so don't set your expectations by those standards. It is an historic building, in an historic neighbourhood that has been cared for over the years. Our room was comfortable and spacious, as was the bathroom, and bonus! The bath/shower has opposing shower heads for couples who like to share the shower! Very nice!
Cons: My dislikes are so minor... despite the warnings, we didn't actually run into the ghost of Emily Carr, which was disappointing. I have an aversion to the very strong shade of blue that was used to paint the third floor on which we stayed, but the lower floors were nicer colours for my taste, and I love all the wood that has been maintained over the years. The bathroom could use a fan, but that is such a minor concern.

Cons: Spacing. The apartment was spacious but sofa and chair in awkward position.

Pros: Excellent location! 10 min walk to downtown. Cozy room. Tea and coffee downstairs in the morning was perfect. Also loved the ice cold lemon water that was there too.
Cons: The light coming thru the bottom of the door.

Charming historic hotel with a fantastic staff and delicious restaurant
Pros: The staff were lovely, the location was great, the bed was comfortable, the room was affordable and clean, and the restaurant downstairs is delicious. I particularly recommend the California benedict for breakfast!
Cons: It is an older building with a lot of charm but there is a slight musty smell throughout the building, though it did dissipate over time in the room. Despite this small detail, I would still return.
